One Month In: A Mission Statement

One Month In is a review site for video games. One of the biggest issues with game reviews at the moment, is that they review a pre-release game, but the game changes at it's most during the first few weeks after release. The hype culture fostered by developers encourages players to buy, unseen and rightly has seen a growing backlash - especially as reviewers can often be just as swept up in the hype. I look to cater to people who either already tend to buy games some time after release, or desire to and when searching for reviews of a potential purchase, find only release reviews which may contain inaccurate information, as a result of changes to the game since launch or were influenced by hype. Therefore I will be writing about games after approximately one month - or whatever timescale I deem proper - after release.

This is not a commercial venture - at least not initially. To begin with there will be absolutely no monitisation of the blog, nor any push to market it. I have spent the last decade suffering from a disease which saps my ability to commit to ventures such as this. This is a passion project for me, and a test ground to see if I could possibly keep this going consistantly enough to make a career in game journalism. My gut feeling tells me no, I cannot, so this is likely to remain a hobby for me.

I had intended for my first review to be of Dishonored 2, however it was released on the 11th November, and today, the 5th of December, the most stable version of the game remains as a beta version. There is still a lot of ongoing development and I feel 1 month would still be too early, so I am pushing my anticipated date of review to the 11th January - Two Months On!
